We made a huge statement all about peace to spread around the world, as well as share personally throughout our community. Peace begins with you, and peace begins with a smile. Today we made that statement clear.

  19. War is caused mainly by misunderstanding and hatred. The world needs to learn how to accept and love each other for there to be peace. War has many consequences. A war leaves many people dead and many countries broke and underdeveloped. It also leaves many years of hatred and fear. It also sometimes frees a country, but often leaves people in that country confused and hurt. Many times a war leaves some countries broken and some countries richer. But most times after a war there is a time of peace. In my opinion “There is never a good war, and never a bad peace”.

  20. Hello, I am a student at the US Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy in St. Thomas, USVI. Our school had a great ceremony that included students expressing what peace means to them by either speaking, dancing, and singing. This day represents that the world can be in harmony if enough effort is put forth.

We celebrated a very special Peace Day with a Native American ceremony of the winds. The children led a processional singing Sing Peace Around the World. An Ojibwa shaman shared his ritual with us as we gathered on the playground. A representative of each class shared ideas of what peace means. We raised a world flag and sang a last song, Oh Great Spirit.
Thank you for sponsoring this wonderful event.
197 people participated in our Peace Day celebration.

"Peace is not something you wish for. It's something you make, Something you do, Something you are, And something you give away" - Robert Fulghum

This is just a little step toward peace, but a single action of individual makes a difference in this world. We can be the cosmic agent of change. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

  41. At 11:00 AM on September 21, 2010, 106 students, 22 staff members, and a multitude of families gathered together at The Montessori School of Northampton(Massachusetts, USA) to celebrate Peace Day! Songs were sung by everyone. Younger students spoke about what peace means to each of them. Older students decorated peace rocks which were later given to each family. There was a beautiful feeling in the air as we joined the world to sing (and sign) "Light a Candle for Peace". This light has continued to shine as the song stays in our hearts and is still on our lips. How wonderful to be connected to all of you in this way! Peace!

  43. We, Redwood Coast Montessori (lower elementary program), sang here in Eureka California but got so busy we forgot to post it! We added a Roots & Shoots component and created a Giant Peace Dove to parade around and bring to the Montessori preschool across the street. Four Veterans for Peace joined us to tell their message of peace, then helped us carry the heavy peace dove (it is heavy work to bring peace sometimes!).
